I was going through old photos on New Year's Day and found the one posted below. It was such a treasure to find this because I thought I had all my photos of Chole in one place. I completely forgot about this photo and that day. But as soon as I saw it the memories came flooding back.
This photo was taken in November 2011, Chole was 9-years-old. We were walking through downtown San Luis Obispo after church as we usually did. She had been telling me that she was a Missouri girl in a California world. Then we walked into Jamba Juice and saw the cups stacked like the St. Louis Arch. We were both so delighted and she posed for the photo with pure joy.
I cherish such moments that seemed so ordinary at the time. I miss my friend.
